ASD event 2008

following last year's sucess, we're upping the bar slightly & aim to raise $40,000 for this year's ASD event. I must say that everyone has worked tremendously hard this year, under multiple stress factors ranging from death in a family member, busy work schedules which often requires 3 of us to be out of Singapore and personal commitments. there are days when i question the feasibility of us pulling this off, given the odds against us this year - long weekend with many of our regular supporters away + the gloomy economic situation. Jacq & I were pulling our hair thinking of plan B and even considered moving the date of the event. When we reconvened last week to work out the numbers, we felt more reassured & more positive about the whole thing. Cautiously optimistic, if i may use that term. These 2 weeks will just be about pushing ticket sales & attendance. Light bulb Jacq has done an incredible job getting all the auction items together & we've sent them out for pre-event bidding. we're really glad that it has resulted in some incredible bids. Suddenly $40K doesn't look all that daunting anymore Wink

we can't save all the abandoned dogs in Singapore through the money we'll be raising through these events. that is only possible through a combination of long term education & awareness programs done with big government support. however every baby steps we make through creating awareness will hopefully give a  dog another chance to live a life it so rightfully deserves. Indifference is the worst crime any human being can commit, so "Stand up for animal rights and make a difference today".

Jona's going to be a mommy

Found out about Jona's pregnancy about 6 weeks ago. She's about 10 weeks pregnant now. I still can;t believe one of my best friend is pregnant! Really thrilled about that. I know Jona will make an excellent mom - if she's then, then i'll have the excuse to take over haha.

She came around with Dee last weekend. We shared a simple local meal and had a few drinks at home - jona's not drinking of course. Showed me an ultrasound picture of the little bab - oh my god, it's so tiny! i think it's only 2cm long at this point and it seems to be waving! haha.

we're struggling with names - jona's asked for some ideas. What do i know about baby names? ZERO! I can only think of traditional names but i think she wants something trendy .. Lei? That's Japanese for peaceful - i think that's what she told me.

Very very exciting journey for jona. She deserves to have something to call her own and who loves her unconditionally. And i wish her pregnancy will be smooth sailing.

The making of our new apartment

it took almost 16 weeks for full completion, despite the contractor's estimate of 6 weeks. The lesson learnt is that one should ALWAYS over-supervise on the contractor's job. After dealing with them for the past 4 months,  i can only say that the contractors lack the professionalism we expected and jobs are done without proper planning. However i must admit that the after sales service of this team has been commendable - despite numerous complaints, they always come back to fix things that were not to our satisfaction.

Let's just hope the ceiling doesn't fall ... :)

Baby Konrad's Christening & Rasa & Chris' Birthday Party

A beautiful & fun filled night, celebrating life, love, family and friendship.

Rasa & Chris looked really content during Konrad's christening. This journey to parenthood has been miraculous. And Mega and I are really honored to be part of this celebration.
